Daily Update - 3rd April

Well this is the strangest end of term we've ever known! No chance to do the usual Holy Week and Easter activities that normally mark the end of the Spring Term, but at least the thought that the days are getting brighter and warmer and when we do finally get back to school, it will be much more summery.

Keep those photos coming in over the holidays - we might not be able to respond straight away, but we will put them on the website and we will keep posting your videos of Mr Morse's Challenge. Miss Waters has posted some photos of the little group that have been in school this week!

The staff have also been working on a special Easter surprise for you (all will be revealed on Monday ....)

Story of the Day

We will keep putting more stories up for you, but they may not be every day over the holidays. However, our St Patrick's YouTube channel will be up and running soon and you will be able to find all the stories on there! (we'll send you a link on Monday)

Staff Changes

Although we are not sure when we are going to be back in school again, there are some staff changes that we wanted to let you know about:

  • Mrs Lucie Whitren has been successful in gaining the post of Deputy Headteacher at Bassett Green School. She has given so much time and effort to St Patrick's both as class teacher and as Assistant Headteacher and all the staff and children are going to miss her patient attitude and skillful teaching. We wish her the best of luck as she starts on this new chapter of her life.

  • Mrs Karen Read will be moving to Bartley Junior School. She has been with us since September in Year 3 and has been a dedicated and enthusiastic member of staff. The children will miss her cheerful manner and we all wish her good luck in her new venture.

  • We welcome back Mrs Rachael Davis, our SENCO, from her maternity leave and also welcome Mr Thomas Durack who is joining us in Year 5.

Easter Activities

The staff have put together some activities you might like to do over the holidays - they are attached for you. These and more will be added to the website, so keep checking.

From the teachers

There is a letter and/ or video message to all classes today - these are on the website on the class pages and will be emailed out as well.

Draw with Rob

The Dietrich family have shared with us this youtube link if you want to try some fun dinosaur cartoons - they all really enjoyed drawing their own!

Cardboard Creations!

Mrs Bignell has shared a lovely idea on making things out of cardboard - attached.

Covid-19 Time Capsule

Mrs Paul has sent a booklet that you could do and bury as a Time Capsule to read in the future. You could even bury it and mark not to be opened until 2050!

Holy Week

This Sunday is Palm Sunday and normally at school we have a donkey visit us for the children to see what Jesus rode as he entered Jerusalem for the last time. Fr Ross was even going to ride it this year! It's very unlikely you will be able to do this at home, but have attached a family liturgy you can use instead.

Message from Mrs Friel

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful photos and videos of the creative and fun-filled activities that you have been doing.  They have brought a smile to my face every day and I look forward to seeing many more in the coming weeks.  Remember to keep smiling and the world smiles with you!

Contacting us during the holidays

If you need us at all over the holidays, please email elsa@st-patricks.southampton.sch.uk or support@st-patricks.southampton.sch.uk or text Mrs Mullin on 07712097633 and she will call you back. We'll send out a separate message with other useful numbers and websites.

All the staff and governors wish you a joyful, if slightly different, Easter break and hope you manage to get some sort of family time together and a chance to celebrate the Easter mysteries. Although we won't be sending a daily update over the holidays, we will still send you an update every so often to keep in touch and to suggest things that might be helpful.
