Half-Term Update - 27th May 2022

What a beautiful day to finish off the half-term! The children have enjoyed being out in the sunshine and Year F have loved using big pieces of chalk to draw pictures on the ground and even to start decorating their fence. Year 3 finished off the half-term with an inspirational visit to Fishbourne Villa, where they apparently met a real Roman soldier and Year 1 were most disappointed when Monty the Monkey couldn’t visit them due to an outbreak of Monkeypox!

Mrs Bignell

We said an emotional farewell to Mrs Bignell today, who is leaving us after 11 years service. The children made her cards and we presented her with some flowers and plants, but I think the best part of our assembly was all the wonderful memories that children (and staff) told of their time with her. We wish her all the best for the future.

Playground

Thank you for your cooperation over the past few days. As you will have seen, we have a fabulous new KS1 area, which the children have really enjoyed exploring today and also lots of exciting lines and games being painted on both playgrounds. It should all be finished off in time for when the children return. (Photos on our Twitter feed @StPatricksSoton)

Sports Days

Mr Porter and Ms Alexander have organised something special this year: we are going to use the field and facilities at Charlton House School in Bitterne for our sports days! Days are below and more details to follow:

Thursday 14th July Morning: Year 1 and Year 2

Thursday 14th July Afternoon: Year F

Friday 15th July Morning: Years 3, 4, 5 and 6

Jubilee Day

We will be celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Friday 17th June, which will involve a special lunch and all sorts of other exciting activities. Details to follow after half-term.

Hares of Hampshire

Our amazing St Patrick’s hare is under cover and being closely guarded at the Marlands Centre. Ms Tansey will be taking a groups of children for a private view after half-term and then our hare along with all the other hares will on view from June 16th as part of the Art Trail. More details here: https://haresofhampshire.co.uk/

Thank You to the SPSA

For kindly funding some of the improvements in the playground; they have bought us some tables and chairs, forest-themed bean bags and some raised beds for the children to plant in. Please continue to support their work to help benefit your children even more.

This Sunday, we are celebrating that strange period of time after Jesus ascended into heaven and before the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost: let us remember that even in our darkest periods of despair, the Lord is always with us to comfort us.

Have a wonderful half-term break and see you on Monday 6th June.
